We are currently in early stage of detailed feasibility study to evaluate commercial opportunities in renewable energy generation potential (green hydrogen/green ammonia) in an around on the coastal regions in Somaliland.
Who We Are
HydroMaal is the first and the only company in the Horn of Africa working in the green energy sector, and plans to become a part of the global energy transition solutions by providing affordable and reliable green energy for the markets.
Energy transition is a pathway toward transformation of the global energy sector from fossil-based to zero-carbon by the second half of this century. The energy transition is mostly driven by the need to manage climate change and decarbonize our fossil fuel-based world economies with sustainable sources of energy, such as wind and solar. At the heart the energy transition is the need to reduce energy-related CO2 emissions to limit climate change. Since the Paris Agreement, all nations, particularly, developed countries have pledged to decarbonize their economies by mid-century, with targets for transitional economies to achieve net zero in the subsequent decades. This means, facing out the use of fossil fuel as a source of energy to power world economy. Nature-based energy solutions, such as wind and solar energy will play a central role in the global energy transition. For the Horn of Africa, the energy transition certainly creates great opportunities. The region is blessed with an abundant renewable energy (wind and solar) and has one of the strongest potentials for producing a low-cost renewable energy (onshore wind power could generate between 30,000 to 45,000 MW per year whereas a solar power could potentially generate an excess of 2,000 kWh/m2) in Africa. By utilizing this infinite natural resource and adapting advanced technologies for green energy production, it is our vision to be a major player among countries bridging the global energy transition, from source to service.
Through strategic engagement and building strong partnerships with local, regional, and international energy industry, green energy financiers and other organizations working in the energy transition discourse across the world, HydroMaal plans to play an important role in strategies aimed to decarbonize the world economy by developing and leading sustainable energy evolution in the Horn of Africa that contribute to the growing regional and global demand for green and sustainable energy.
